About Us


The Irish Centre for Work Based Learning Partnerships has a team of experts in place who are highly experienced practitioners in their respective professional fields as well as in Higher education, in  particular Activity Based Learning (Action Learning & Work Based Learning), Strategic Management and Organisational Development


The Centre consists of faculty and Consultants who provide expertise to the Centre ;

Professor Noel Mulcahy: Director and co-founder

Professor Mulcahy was executive vice president of the University of Limerick,  and a full professor of Industrial Strategy there. He has also served as chairman past and present on the boards of many State and private organisations as well as being an Irish Senator for the period (1977-1981).

He pioneered the worlds first Action Learning Masters programme in conjunction with University of Dublin (Trinity College) and he has conducted management and technical training courses for over 40 years at national and international level.

Nick Hodgers MSc (Mgmt): Director and co-founder

Nick has been Chief Executive officer of many Multinational Companies as well as chairman and director of companies in the USA, Ireland, France and Germany. He also served on the main board of the Irish Industrial Development Authority (IDA), was a director of the National Micro Applications Centre. A Member of the New Technology Committee of the National Board of Science and Technology which set up the National Programmes for Advance Technologies (PATS).
Nick was also an expert adviser and member of the European Union 'COMET 1 and 2' Pan European Educational Integration Programmes expert committee for many years. He implemented  the European Union 'AIDA 3' programme in Work Based Learning in 1995.

Dr Andrew Hodgers Dip.QM MBA DProf MCMI: Senior Consultant & Head of Programmes

Andrew is an expert in the field of Organisation development. He has worked on numerous OD and business change projects with Fortune 500, European top 100 and Government organizations in Europe, N. America and Asia. Andrew's research specialism is the development and application of  Management Cybernetics and business systems.


Dr. Mehmet Ali Dikerdem: Middlesex University Link Tutor

Mehmet Ali is the Curriculum Leader for Postgraduate Studies within Middlesex University's award winning Institute for Work Based Learning where he has worked since April 2002. Previously, he taught social sciences at Bristol and Middlesex Universities. He is also a module leader for the Research Methods and Programme Plan modules in the postgraduate programme and has been involved in international partnerships introducing work based learning pedagogies in Turkey and Cyprus. His DPhil at Sussex University explored the role of metalworking SMEs in a developing economy. His current research interests include cross-cultural transfers of work based learning methodologies; transdisciplinarity; professional practice.

Dr. Marc Cashin: Regional Director

Marc has worked in a number of multi-national organisations in Telecommunications and Information Technology over the past 25 years. He has considerable technical and managerial experience having held positions in Finance, Technical Development, Programme Management and Business Development.  Marc also lectures on a number of  3rd level courses including Business Economics and Operations & Supply Chain Management on Executive MBA Programmes. His Doctoral work explored Knowledge Management systems and knowledge roadmapping.
